Re: Preventing Mass Evictions Post-COVID-19 Emergency Period
We write to follow up on our previous letters dated March 19, 2020 and March 24, 2020 regarding the eviction moratorium during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Since we last wrote regarding this issue, it has become clear that the COVID-19 public health emergency and resulting financial crunch will be with us for some time. We have heard from many tenants who have told us that even with all of the available federal and provincial benefits and supplements, they still cannot pay their rent and are accruing significant arrears, which are going to continue to build.
